BIOGRAPHY

Jacqueline Ratto Allard, a professional fine artist, paints predominantly in oils and acrylics. Upon completion of formal studies in her native Nova Scotia where she completed a Teachers Degree, she attended art workshops in Toronto and Nova Scotia with John Cook (oils), Alan Wylie (acrylics), Fred Ross (water colours) and Augustine Filipovic (sculpture). Jacqueline studied on a scholarship at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick. She then attended the Academy of Design and Decorative Arts in Brussels, Belgium.

Her paintings feature bold lines with vibrant colors, portraying a strong yet sensitive reality which is slightly altered in graceful form and patterns. Her designs are very powerful, with a feel for surface pattern, reflecting an innovative view of her subjects. Her paintings focus primarily on still life, floral designs, old buildings and intricate designs. She continues to participate in portrait and life drawing workshops.

Jacqueline has had solo exhibitions in Nova Scotia and has participated in many group exhibitions in Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Manitoba, including the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Wasagaming Summer Art Exhibition, the National Capital Fine Arts Festival, the Provincial Visual Arts, Nova Scotia, and the Halifax Art gallery Art Sales and Rentals.
